With the passing of Stephen “Twitch” Boss, everyone took to the internet this week to share advice on how to deal with depression; from checking on your friends to reaching out when you are feeling sad, and although the intentions were ‘good’ most of the advice being given was not by mental health professions and it was toxic!
Thank you for sharing your insights. It is important for people to be referred to qualified mental health therapists with cultural understanding to underpin the care.
Totally agree that more mutual compassion and empathy - giving time to talk with and check on loved ones and friends is a practical step of support we can all invest in.
This was an important topic. I suffer terribly from complex PTSD and depression. The darkness frightens me. But I read your book and listen to your podcast and attended your counseling session. I continuously prioritize my wellness and recover every single day. Thank you for sharing your passion and your vulnerability.
