I agree with your suggestions for the Greek-letter organizations.
I cannot wrap my head around the latest young lady who announced his disaffiliation with the sorority she just days before joined. It seems planned and very calculated to get social media reactions. Her interpretation or “understanding” of Minerva and the ceremonies makes me question the process she was involved in - not one for which I’m familiar.
I have in the past disassociated with organizations that no longer aligned with my interests or passions or were no longer worth my time and energy, but I have NEVER done so publicly.
I too have disassociated with organizations in the past. I just stop participating and went on about my business. I didn't make a public declaration on social media nor to anyone for that matter. If it was for religious purposes - I had a personal conversation with God, not with strangers on Instagram and YouTube. Now I honestly had to scratch my head at some of her accusations, because like you...I wasn't familiar with the process she was describing. Social media is a dangerous drug that many become addicted to the validation and attention from strangers. And just like drugs, it can birth evilness and wrong doing too.
