It's astonishing yet completely on brand for this country to ban books before it bans assault weapons. To see the books on this list makes me shake my head, we read these books when I was in school some 40 years ago. Those who refuse to learn from their history are surely doomed to repeat it.
Great point, Kristina. They were quick to ban books that don't harm people, vs assault weapons, which we know are deadly. I read a few of these books back in high school and college and I'm 54. Did an entire thesis on Black Boy by Richard Wright in the 11th grade and my English teacher recommended I major in English after reading it (this was an all white high school in S. Louisiana).
I don’t even know what to say. I have half of these books already and am stunned to read this list. I guess these are the exact books to go out and buy!
I felt the same way when I saw which books had been banned. I’ve read a good majority of them, with the older editions being read in high school and college over 30 yrs ago.
Add Crazy as Hell by
Hoke S. Glover III and V. Eula Prince to this list
Thanks for adding!
