Wednesday over on Threads, New York Times Bestselling Author, Omar Tyree was trending, and not for the re-release of his bestselling novel, Flyy Girl.
Also known for his sometimes controversial views, Tyree stayed on brand during his most recent interview.
During his interview with Storm from Black Girl Tired Book Talk Podcast, Omar Tyree made a lot of misogynist comments about his fanbase - the very women who helped Flyy Girl to become a New York Times Bestseller - Black Women.
Highlights of What Omar Tyree Shared:
Black women don’t swim because we don’t want to mess up our hair and nails.
Black women only want to be the boss and are not submissive like white and Asian women.
Black women don’t get the ‘Ballers’ because we don’t know how to be submissive.
Talked about a young girls developing body as an indicator to men that she is ready to procreate (this shit bothered me the most!).
He also talked about his mama! Like Sir…how do you fix your mouth to talk about your own mama.
As I stated, this isn’t his first time being out of order when it comes to Black women. Back in 2005, he wrote a piece for Essence Magazine titled, How to Guarantee Yourself a Divorce (without having to ask for it). In this article, he justified cheating on his wife (I couldn’t make this up even if I tried) if she can no longer fulfill her husband’s sexual needs.
I share more about what Mr. Tyree had to say and my thoughts on his interview in this video:
So let’s talk. Have you watched his controversial interview with Storm? Will you be supporting the re-release of his bestselling novel, Flyy Girl or will you be canceling Omar Tyree in 2025?

I didn't hear about this interview, WOW!! Wonder if those submissive white and Asian women are going to support the re-release of the book that Black women initially made successful. 😒
