“It’s easier to go down a hill than to go up, but the view is much better at the top.”

The other day a close friend and I were having a conversation regarding this ongoing cycle that professional Black women often find ourselves trapped in.

We start each day hypervigilant - very alert, cautious, and prepared to fight. We suit up in our emotional armor, ready to slay the dragons that will try to tear us down the minute we walk out our front door. We hope and pray that our shield will protect us from the harmful words and ruthless actions that we will encounter at any given moment throughout our day. We fight until the sun goes down, then return home and disarmer, collapsing from pure exhaustion, only to wake up and go through the entire process again.
