10 Black Romance Books You Need to Listen to This Summer

Alight retired hot girls, it’s that time of the year where we are outside (with or without our summer bodies) taking in the sun poolside with a fancy drink in one hand and hopefully plugged into a steaming hot audio book. Yes, this summer we are ditching the self-help and business audiobooks, and going for some hot romance novels to match these scorching temperatures outside!

My author of choice this summer is Christian C. Jones. I love how Jones weaves historical facts about African Americans into her novels, and that her characters are strong, intelligent, and professional Black women. Her books have drama (but it’s not Black struggle love or based on trauma porn). The women in her stories are fearless - like none of them take any shit, but they do have a few hiccups in the romance department. Meanwhile, Jones lead male characters are men - men. They protect their women at all costs, both mentally and physically. And did I mention that the sex scenes are blazing hot! Look-a-here, Jones books leave you wanting more; more sex, more adventure, and definitely more of her writing!

As you already know, I am heavily into audio books and let me tell you - the narrator can make or break a novel! My favorite female narrator is Wesleigh Siobhan! Siobhan really brings Jones books to life. And her male voice interpretations are always, and I do mean always, on point (Exhibit A- The Perfect Find by Tia Williams)! When it comes to male narrators, I LOVE Midnite Michael. His voice will have your panties soaking wet. I also enjoy listening to Emmanuel Ingram. He adds flavor to characters with Louisiana accents. Coming in third is Winston James. James does a really good job of portraying male characters with narcissistic personalities, lol. Like you love him and hate him at the same damn time. When I hear his voice I immediately think - asshole!

Jones usage of these voiceover actors to narrate her stories is always a winning combination.
